As followers of Christ, our security should be anchored in Him. We stray so much when we begin to desire, acquire, and strive for the things of this world.
1 John 2:15-17 says,
“Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boastings of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.”
God is calling us to something greater; nothing compares to his will and purpose for our lives.
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace” (Acts 20:24).
God never promised us in his Word that life would be easy or without troubles; He does promise to be with us and help us in/through every situation/circumstance.
- Cold showers
- Bug bites
- Missing family and friends
- Eating/drinking things I’m not accustomed to
- Facing fears/insecurities
- Learning many new things
This is a list of some of what I personally struggle with here. In Spanish “vale la pena” means IT IS WORTH it.
1 Peter 4:1-2 says,
“Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God.”
If we are willing to suffer as He suffered as a human here on earth, if we walk as He walked (1 John 2:6), if we share his love with others as He has shown his love for us,
VALE LA PENA.
“However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name” (1 Peter 4:16).
My heart is breaking more for the people of Ecuador, so many are living in such physical and spiritual poverty. I LOVE the kids especially. They just cling to you and love you as if they’ve known you their whole lives!
Please pray that God will continue to open doors and send more workers for the harvest is great! The hunger and need is great!
Seek Him and serve Him and others where you are; VALE LA PENA.
