We took the children on a “paseo” which is like taking them to a park for a fun day, and what a fun day it was! While the pool was being prepared (remember, our summer is Peru’s winter), we had all types of relay races, played on the playground, soccer, football, and then finally the pool was ready and the children loved it, we even got the slide going, which was a blast!
For those who contributed to the ‘shoes for orphans’ campaign at the beginning of the year, we had the opportunity to give shoes out to the children at Elim. Especially with the children finishing up a short vacation, they will be very proud to go back to school with their new shoes!
Two of the mothers needed eye surgery to remove their cataracts, and through the donations by the other mothers at the dump and through teams, we raised enough money to schedule the eye appointments. We took the two mothers to the doctors office, and the surgery was performed, and they are recovering. Praise the Lord for this opportunity!
We also build a chicken coop for one of the families at the garbage dump.

And we finally built bathroom! After many years of finding a quiet corner or having no shame like the little toddlers, we have a private area for taking care of business. We are teaching the children how to respect the new facilities and they all seem very excited about this new addition to the ministry. Praise the Lord for this new addition!
It’s been a busy month, but the Lord has provided the energy and the resources to make this all happen and what a blessing it has been. Continue to pray for us as difficulties and trials try to hinder the work we are doing. Also continue to pray for the families salvation and growth with Jesus Christ.
Remember we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Let your light shine, so that others may glorify our Father, who is in heaven – Matthew 5:13-16.
I pray that this update brought encouragement to your day!
